How Trim Training Began?
Shaped by frontline experience, Trim Training provides preventative digital learning that builds resilience, strengthens emotional awareness and supports safer choices. Designed for education, safeguarding and early help, our courses support early intervention and stay relevant through ongoing feedback from young people and professionals.
Noel Wilson
Noel Wilson was born and raised in Aston, Birmingham. After a short career in professional football, he moved into coaching at Alexander Stadium, where he began working closely with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those with additional learning needs.
In 1996, Noel became a senior residential worker in a therapeutic unit supporting vulnerable young women. This role provided direct insight into the realities of local authority care and the factors that can increase vulnerability to abuse and exploitation.
By 2001, Noel joined Birmingham Youth Offending Service, working within the Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Programme. Here, he supported young people involved in the youth justice system while developing a deeper understanding of risk, behaviour and change. Alongside his frontline work, he studied Counselling Skills at Bournville College, achieving Level 3 in 2008. This training introduced motivational interviewing techniques that continue to underpin his practice today.
In 2011, Noel graduated from Birmingham City University with a Diploma in Professional Studies (Post-Compulsory Education and Training). He began developing blended learning approaches that combine visual, auditory and role-play methods to deliver effective interventions in both group and one-to-one settings.
Driven by the belief that learning should inspire confidence and achievement, Noel went on to design and deliver bespoke accredited courses, ensuring learners gained not only practical skills but also a sense of progress and purpose.
Today, as Founder of Trim Training, Noel delivers workshops and digital courses nationally. Drawing on more than two decades of frontline and educational experience, he remains committed to empowering young people and equipping professionals with the tools needed to create lasting, positive change.
